2021-2022 Residency Interview Process Recommendations

The Commission on Education (COE) and the Council of Academic Family Medicine (CAFM) published recommendations to improve equity in the residency application process and reduce challenges during the recruitment process, including costs, travel, and perceived pressure to apply to a large number of residency programs. The letter includes a recommendation for residencies to conduct only virtual interviews and a recommendation to encourage candidates to target applications to a limited number of programs.

In collaboration with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the STFM and AAFP resources listed below are intended to provide guidance to advisors and faculty about how they can best support medical students pursuing family medicine residencies during the 2021-22 recruitment season.
