Call for Applications Now Open for New Coaching Certificate Program
STFM will engage two sequential cohorts in a 10-month coaching certificate program for residency faculty. The program includes virtual and in-person training and mentoring that integrates performance-based and developmental coaching principles.
September 1, 2026 — STFM is now accepting applications for the first cohort of the new CBME Certificate of Distinction: Adaptive Coaching in GME program. This is a time-limited learning initiative of STFM that will engage two sequential cohorts (May 2027–March 2028 and May 2028–March 2029) of residency faculty. This program supports meaningful behavior change and integration of coaching skills into day-to-day faculty roles. During the 10-month longitudinal program, participants will gain skills to coach residents through development and implementation of individualized learning plans, and will also learn to provide more effective feedback.Selected participants will:
- Get recognized for coaching expertise
- Gain practical skills
- Receive virtual peer coaching, mentor coaching, and coach supervision.
- Get ABFM Continuing Certification Credit (MOC IV)
- Connect with other family medicine coaches
- Grow personally and professionally
- Earn up to 27 International Coaching Federation Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units
The program's time commitment includes: 10 total hours of asynchronous learning (ideally completed prior to the program start at the STFM Annual Spring Conference), 6 hours of in-person learning at the conference, and 2 hours of learning a month for 10 months following the conference.The program is being developed by faculty experienced in developmental coaching and adult learning models, balancing feasibility for busy family medicine educators with sufficient longitudinal contact for lasting mindset and behavior change.The deadline to apply is October 13, 2026.
