60-Word Stories in Family Medicine: Call For Submissions
To celebrate STFM's 60th anniversary, Family Medicine journal invites submissions of brief, reflective “60-Word Stories.”
June 1, 2026—To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, we invite members of the academic family medicine community to submit brief, reflective narratives for a special “60-Word Stories” series to be featured throughout 2027 in Family Medicine.Family medicine is built on relationships, mentorship, teaching, advocacy, and joy in caring for patients and communities. As we reflect on six decades of STFM, we want to capture the small moments, meaningful lessons, and human connections that define academic family medicine. We encourage submissions from family medicine educators across all generations as we seek to publish 60-word stories spanning our specialty's history; we want to share stories from multiple generations!Submissions must include a brief title, be exactly 60 words in length, and respond to one of the following prompts:
- Describe a memorable time when you gave or received mentorship or sponsorship.
- What is the best thing(s) about being a clinician educator in family medicine?
- Describe joy in academic family medicine.
