Deadline for proposals is March 1, 2012
The CAFM Educational
Research Alliance (CERA), is now accepting proposals for the first annual CERA
survey of family medicine clerkship directors. The survey will collect demographic
information in addition to submitted questions. Priority
will be given to proposals that are likely to result in high-quality,
peer-reviewed publications. Once projects have been approved, experienced
researchers will join each project team to help refine questions, facilitate
analysis, and prepare and submit manuscripts.
Ask Your Representative to Co-sponsor Primary Care Workforce Access Improvement Act of 2011 (H.R. 3667)
The introduction of this bill is the culmination of family medicine's efforts over the last 3 years to introduce reforms in the way Medicare funds graduate medical education. The bill is a budget-neutral way to test new models for the delivery of GME funding. The pilot project changes the stream of GME funding to make it directly available to medical education entities whose priority is training the primary care workforce. It provides a valuable opportunity to explore modern training techniques and allows for an increase in the number of primary care physicians.
