STFM is pleased to offer this educational tool for you and your volunteer preceptors. The Teaching Physician is a quarterly newsletter designed to provide teaching tips to your community preceptors. The newsletter will be sent quarterly to subscribers electronically as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file (July, October, January, and April) and is intended to be forwarded by your department (either electronically or in print) to your community preceptors.

We recognize the importance of providing training for family medicine’s cadre of volunteer faculty. This quick and easy to digest Teaching Physician newsletter compiles relevant training material that you can provide to your preceptors. Add your own departmental news and information in the body of the e-mail and you’ve got a personalized document that provides teaching tips and keeps your volunteer faculty abreast of activities within your department.

Published by STFM and edited by leaders in predoctoral education, each issue of The Teaching Physician will feature:

  • Reprints from the best of the “For the Office-based Teacher of Family Medicine” Column
  • Two examples of Patient-oriented Evidence That Matters (POEMs) geared for the teaching family physician
  • Technology news tailored specifically to preceptors
  • A clinical guideline that applies to the teaching physician

Subscriptions to this service are only $190 annually.
