New STFM Blog Looking for Guest Contributors
STFM recently started a
blog and is looking for contributors to write on topics of interest to family medicine educators. Contribution to the blog can be as short as two or three paragraphs, or as long as it needs to be to effectively present your point of view. This year-long Emerging Leaders Program offers training, tools, and support for new faculty and those who are transitioning to leadership roles. Designed specifically for family medicine educators, the Emerging Leaders Program offers participants an actual leadership experience leading a team through completion of a project. Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2012. Class size is limited so sign up today.

Do You Teach Mental Health?
The Group on Family and Behavioral Health is looking for experts to identify articles and resources about mental health issues that are commonly treated in primary care. Visit the
mental health page at the Behavioral Science Basics wiki and check the comment box at the bottom of the page to suggest resources that can be used for training.
Calling All Interested in Men's Health
The
Group on Men's Health is seeking clinician educators who share an interest in examining the disparities in men's health across cultural and socio-economic strata, as well as those with an interest in developing curricular interventions centered on men's health. The goals of curriculum development are to examine what provisions of men's health are currently being taught to medical students and residents at various institutions, to develop tools to assess and measure competency in diagnosis and management of common disorders in primary care urology, and to enhance current curricular efforts in men's health disparities.

Denise Rodgers Named Interim President
The UMDNJ Board of Trustees recently announced the appointment of Denise Rodgers, MD, UMDNJ Executive Vice President for Academic and Clinical Affairs, to the position of Interim President of UMDNJ, effective January 1, 2012. Prior to becoming Executive Vice President, Dr Rodgers served as University Chief of Staff, and she remains a professor of family medicine at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Congratulations Denise!

Applicants Sought for Scholars Program
The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation is seeking applicants for the
Macy Faculty Scholars Program through March 2012. The program is designed to nurture the careers of educational innovators in medicine and nursing and provides five early- to mid-career faculty members 2-year scholarships in the amount of $100,000 per year.
