Jeffrey Cain, MD, has quite a story to tell about an airplane crash that put him in his own hospital. He'll be sharing lessons and inspiration during his general session, "The Physician as Patient: Lessons From the Other End of the Stethoscope," at the upcoming STFM Annual Spring Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. Listen to this STFM podcast for a sneak peak into this amazing story.
STFM Debuts New Fellowship for Behavioral Science and
Family Systems Educators
The fellowship has a targeted focus on professional development and scholarly activity, along with specific fellowship programming at two premiere conferences. This fellowship also provides continuity mentoring by a seasoned behavioral science or family systems educator. "Often, behavioral scientists are the only nonphysician on the residency faculty, and there is no formal mechanism to help connect newer, mid-career, and more seasoned behavioral scientists to one another. This fellowship helps build this community for our behavioral science/family systems educators," says Deborah Taylor, PhD, senior chair of the STFM Group on Behavioral Science. Learn more.

Online Resource Guide of CHFM Collections Now Available
The Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM) announces its first online catalog, Guide to the Collections of the Center for the History of Family Medicine. It features a complete listing of the Center’s archival, library, and museum holdings, which serve to document the history, development, and practice of family medicine throughout the history of the specialty.

Don Ivey, CHFM manager, said that the guide was developed as part of the Center’s ongoing commitment to preserve and share all areas of the history of the specialty.

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine is an organizational member of the CHFM. STFM currently transfers records to the CHFM, donates to its endowment, and has STFM members serve on the CHFM advisory board.
We are happy to bring you this issue of the Messenger, in a new, more interactive format. We'd love your feedback.
