For the third year, STFM offered an exciting fellowship program for current and aspiring predoctoral directors. The Predoctoral Directors Development Institute is a comprehensive educational program designed to give predoctoral faculty the skills they need to be successful in the role of predoctoral director. Along with attending two full-day workshops at the Conference on Predoctoral Education and the STFM Annual Spring Conference, each fellow forms a relationship with a mentor and completes a project geared toward his/her personal interests. Fellows also attend specific sessions that constitute a Predoctoral Directors Track at each conference. Katie Margo, MD, has directed an excellent team of faculty for the program since its inception.
Evaluations and attendance for both offerings have been strong, and the STFM Board recently approved the continuation of the program. In 2008, we established a baseline of measures of scholarly productivity. Our goal is to measure outcomes beyond participant opinion about the institute and knowledge gained.
