The Group on Violence Education and Prevention focuses on the broad issues of (1) training family physicians about the impact of violence on the health and quality of life of their patients, (2) identifying strategies to help intervene with patients at high risk for victimization and perpetration of violence, and (3) the primary prevention of violence. Areas of concern include all aspects of family-relationship violence, gang and youth violence, violence toward vulnerable populations, and violence toward women. The group shares information and activities through its listserve and presentations at the STFM Annual Spring Conferences.
