Society of Teachers of Family Medicine

Public Health Education

The Group on Public Health Education seeks to improve health by training current and future doctors, and other health workers, to address issues affecting our individual patients at a population level. The impact of health disparities, environmental quality, physical inactivity, chronic disease, access to care and other population health issues is felt daily by our patients. Through education and collaboration with public health professionals we can better address the growing number of public health concerns facing our society.

The goals of the STFM Group on Public Health Education are to:

  1. 1. Support innovations in public health curricular development
    2. Promote integration of public health knowledge and skills into existing curricula
    3. Share effective strategies for public health education
    4. Create opportunities for collaboration in educational research
