Society of Teachers of Family Medicine

Medical Education Best Practices and Research

The Group on Medical Education Best Practices and Research seeks to stimulate the growth of an evidence‐based research focused culture among those involved in teaching family medicine. The group endeavors to support evidence‐based educational practices by disseminating the empirical evidence of best educational practices and encouraging the development of new research on these practices. Rigorous educational research should guide all levels of Family Medicine training and the group seeks to help all persons involved in the discipline of family medicine to make use of these resources.

The group's goals are to: 1) facilitate the review and evaluation of scientific research about education interventions, 2) disseminate scientific research of relevance to family medicine educator, 3) promote best‐practices research in family medicine education, and 4) develop and support an "evidence‐based education culture" at STFM and all family medicine education programs.
