The New Faculty Scholar Award

This program provides scholarships to the STFM Annual Spring Conference for STFM members who in their first 2 years as full-time faculty exhibit outstanding leadership potential. Since its inception in 1988, this program has supported the attendance of 91 new faculty at this conference.

This award is the STFM Foundation's initiative to develop leaders in our discipline. Attendance at national meetings is one way to help develop leaders and leadership skills. This award is for up to $1,500 and is intended to cover travel and hotel expenses for attendance at the 2009 STFM Annual Spring Conference in Denver.

Nominations are being accepted through December 2008.

Criteria:

The nominee must:

  1. Be an active member of STFM.
  2. Be a full-time faculty member at a family medicine department or family medicine residency program who has been employed in academic family medicine for less than 2 years.
  3. Not currently be a fellow, either full time or part time.
  4. Not be presenting at the STFM Annual Spring Conference.
  5. Arrive 1 day early to attend the Faculty Development Series session.
  6. Attend all designated functions at the Annual Spring Conference for New Faculty Scholar winners.

In addition, financial need for funding to attend the meeting will be considered.
