Faculty Enhancement Experience

Established in 1996, the Faculty Enhancement Experience provides support for a 2-week visit by family medicine faculty to learn from leaders at institutions other than their own. The goal of this award is to enhance the leadership, teaching, and/or administrative skills of mid-career family medicine faculty. The program, designed by the applicant in collaboration with a colleague from the host institution, will incorporate planned activities specific to the applicant’s objectives. Up to four awards are made annually.

"The STFM Faculty Enhancement Award provided me with the opportunity to improve our Maternal-Child Health program. Thanks to the funds and time that were made available to me, I traveled to Boston Medical College (BMC) and studied the formal Collaborative Model developed by BMC's departments of Family Medicine and OB/GYN. This Collaborative Model has increased patient safety and decreased liability. In addition, it has enhanced the education of its family medicine residents. At the conclusion of my fellowship, I am already bringing aspects of this successful collaboration to my home institution. Thank you STFM Foundation!"
