Host City Highlights

With nearly 345 days of sunshine every year, the only cold Long Beach normally experiences is a cool ocean breeze that caresses our shoreline!  High temperatures in the summer range from 70 to 80 degrees with winter highs at a comfortable range between 67 to 73 degrees making Long Beach the ultimate year-round destination.

Long Beach's scenic downtown and waterfront marina set the standard for "walk-ability."  Within conveniently close proximity you will find first-class accommodations, shopping, numerous entertainment options and more than 100 restaurants within an eight-block area.

Explore each dynamic region creating the heart of the city--Pine Avenue, The Pike at Rainbow Harbor and Shoreline Village; each offers an array of activity and add their own distinct, local flavor. Take a harbor cruise alongside breathtaking ocean bays, bike or simply walk on dedicated paths next to 5.5 miles of sandy beaches. Year-round Long Beach offers sunny skies and moderate climate.

Visit world class attractions, the Queen Mary, the largest, fastest, most luxurious ocean liner of her time, entertains passengers in fine restaurants and on historical tours and the Aquarium of the Pacific featuring more than 12,500 inhabitants of the Pacific Ocean, undersea galleries and live shows. Long Beach is also home to several eclectic museums including the Long Beach Museum of Art and the Museum of Latin American Art.

The city's East Village Arts District includes one-of-a kind art galleries and shops. In addition, just three miles from downtown is Belmont Shore and 2nd Street, the quintessential beachfront community. Easy to reach by the Long Beach Transit's Passport Shuttles, here you will discover trendy shops and terrific restaurants. You can even experience the romance of Italy and weave your way around our very own canals in an authentic gondola.

Visit Long Beach Convention and Visitor's Bureau Web site for more information.

Community Service Project

The 2012 Conference on Medical Student Education wants to involve attendees in giving back to the community.

This year, the AIDS Project Los Angeles, was chosen to give you an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people living with AIDS. AIDS Project Los Angeles programs and services are designed to promote self-sufficiency for people living with HIV/AIDS, to support positive medical outcomes, and to keep people living with HIV/AIDS in care and treatment programs. To see what the Project is doing, go to: http://www.apla.org/

Items desperately needed are toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant. We will have a collection table set up in the registration area. Or, bring a check with you to the conference, made out to the AIDS Project Los Angeles.
