STFM Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowship
STFM, in collaboration with
the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine, sponsor
of The Forum on Behavioral Science in Family Medicine, is pleased to announce
a new, year-long Fellowship for Behavioral Science/Family Medicine Educators. Any family medicine faculty member who has responsibility for coordinating
or teaching the behavioral science/family systems curriculum in their departments or
residencies should consider applying for this exciting and innovative
educational opportunity. Preference will be given to applicants
with
5 or less years of experience as a faculty member.
Who?
This year-long fellowship experience is designed for behavioral science/family systems educators with 5 or less years of experience.
What?
This Behavioral Science/Family
Systems Educator Fellowship includes a structured learning curriculum of core
content and formalized mentoring that will enable you to:

Understand the medical
culture and learn how to increase the value of integrating behavioral
science and family systems core principles into the practice of family medicine.

Actively participate
in a professional development plan that builds upon the fundamentals of
behavioral science education.

Develop a Professional
Learning Contract to include a mentored scholarly project.

Benefit from a strong mentoring
relationship with a seasoned behavioral science/family systems educator.
When?
Fellows will attend two events:
- Behavioral science educators fundamental skills track at 2010 STFM Annual Spring Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia
- Behavioral science track at 2010 Forum on Behavioral Science Conference in Chicago
In addition to attending these two great conferences, the fellowship experience includes:
- a mentoring relationship with seasoned behavioral science educator
participation in a mentored group of 4 other fellows, who will meet at designated times during the conferences and by phone four time during the year
- a Professional Learning Contract that will include a mentored scholarly project to be completed and presented at the 2011 Annual STFM Conference
- opportunity to have your work highlighted in STFM publications and/or Web site
- opportunity to contribute to the STFM Messenger

support in the write up of your scholarly project for submission to an STFM publication
- being honored at the 2011 Annual STFM Conference after completion of your fellowship
Fellowship Cost: $800 ~ a $390 savings!
This includes two conference registrations (as well
as preconference sessions at each conference). Participants will
receive a $200 travel stipend to each of the conferences (for a total
of $400) but will need to plan to cover remaining travel expenses.
A grant from the STFM Foundation Group Project Fund is
providing the travel stipends to accepted fellows. The travel stipend
will be two $200 payouts (one in early May and one in early October)
after submission of an travel expense form for each conference.
