- Professional goal: practice primary-care medicine in undeserved areas, especially in the rural Ozarks and neglected rural communities overseas
- 20 years experience in software enginieering prior to medical school
- Public advocacy and legilsative lobbying volunteer in Washington, DC and Jefferson City, MO
- Worked as medical missionary in Africa and Latin America
- Helped found a student-run free clinic in Columbia, MO
- Volunteers as IT director for a global health non-profit in Chicago
- Enjoys the Spanish language, ham radio, martial arts, the violin, mountaineering, and triatholons
