STFM Excellence in Education Award

Designed to honor outstanding teachers, the STFM Excellence in Education Award recognizes an STFM member for personal excellence in family medicine education, with demonstrated skills in teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, research, or leadership in education at regional or national levels. The nominee must have sustained involvement in family medicine teaching.

Nomination Criteria:

The Communications Committee will rate candidates according to

a) contributions recognized at their home institution,
b) regional/national impact of nominee's activities, and
c) sustained involvement in family medicine education.

Recipients for this award will be honored during STFM's Annual Spring Conference in Seattle, Washington, April 25-29, 2012.

Nominations Requirements:

  • The nominee must be an STFM member.
  • A statement from the nominator citing the nominee's accomplishments and activities that warrant consideration for the STFM award
  • Up to three additional letters of support from a former student/resident and a colleague at an institution other than the nominee's home institution, addressing the nominee's national or regional contribution
  • Curriculum vitae of the nominee

Nominators are asked to accumulate the nomination requirements on the nomination form and send electronically with a nomination form to Jan Cartwright, by October 19, 2011. The STFM Communications Committee will screen the nominations, and the STFM Board of Directors will make the final selections.
