2016 Poetry and Prose Contest Winners Announced

May 10, 2016—The STFM Group on Ethics and Humanities presented the 2016 STFM Annual Poetry and Prose Contest awards at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. The theme of this year's contest was: "What patient interaction has moved you the most as a family physician." 

The award winners are for the poetry category are:

  • First Place: Corey D. Fogleman, MD, FAAFP, for "Knit Together"
  • Second Place: Katie Watson, MD, for "No thank you"

The award winners are for the prose categary are:

  • First Place: David McRay, MD, for "I don't want to know"
  • Second Place: Sarah E. Stumbar, MD, MPH for "Dear Juan"

The winners of the contest read their works at the Annual Poetry and Prose Reading at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. The first place winners received a $100 prize, and the second winner $50 prize. The contest will re-open early next year for the 2017 Poetry and Prose Contest.
