Emerging Leaders Program Names Class of 2015
March 24, 2014—Sixteen fellows, representing family medicine residency programs and departments from across the United States, have been selected for Emerging Leaders, a leadership training program for family medicine educators who are new faculty or transitioning to leadership roles.

This group will start their training at the STFM Annual Spring Conference, May 3-7 in San Antonio, TX. During the yearlong program, fellows will lead a team project, receive instruction and training on team teaching, advocacy, and communicating with the media, and will present a poster at the 2015 Annual Spring Conference. 

The Class of 2015 includes:

  • Urmi Desai, Columbia University
  • Joanna Drowos, DO, MPH, MBA, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University
  • Geneen Gin, DO, University of California-San Diego
  • Lindsay Grizzle, MD, St Joseph's Family Medicine Residency
  • David Mahoney, MD, MBE, Medical University of South Carolina
  • Edward Malone III, MD, La Crosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency
  • Sara Malone, MD, Southern Illinois University Family Medicine Residency
  • Rebecca Malouin, PhD, MPH, MS, Michigan State University
  • Khine Swe Zin Min, MD, St Francis Family Practice Residency
  • Katherine McClellan, MD, University of Utah Family Medicine
  • Carrie Nichols, MD, University of Southern California
  • Adam Roise, MD, MPH, Northeast Iowa Medical Education Foundation
  • Randi Sokol, MD, MPH, Tufts Family Medicine Residency
  • Melanie Southard, DO, University of California San Fresno—Fresno Family and Community Medicine
  • Janice Void, Bronx Lebanon Hospital
The Emerging Leaders program started in 2011 to provide leadership training for family medicine educators. Since then, 24 faculty have graduated the program with an additional 11 fellows set to graduate at the upcoming Annual Spring Conference.
