February 26, 2018—Amanda Kost, MD, has been selected as editor for the online precepting resource, Her 3-year term began in January. “Preceptors are the bedrock of clinical education. Most of us can still remember a preceptor from medical school that we wanted to emulate.”  said Dr Kost.  

During her 3-year term, Dr Kost will oversee improvements to the site’s content, work with the Preceptor Expansion Action Plan, and lead calls with the planned Advisory Panel. “I’m very excited to take on this new role and look forward to working with STFM members on continually improving and thinking of creative ways to deploy this great resource,” she said.

Launched in 2012 and re-launched with a new design and revised structure in 2016, is a comprehensive web-based resource that streamlines training, answers questions, and communicates regularly with preceptors on behalf of medical schools and residency programs. There are currently more than 20,000 preceptors subscribed to the online resource. 

Dr Kost first became a member of STFM in 2011. In 2014, she began a 1-year term as editor for the STFM Messenger Education Column. She completed the Family Medicine Editorial Fellowship for 2016–2017, and serves on the STFM Research Committee and CERA.
