CERA Seeks Survey Director for General Membership Surveys

August 1, 2018—The CAFM Educational Research Alliance (CERA) is now accepting applications for a Survey Director for the CAFM General Membership Survey.  CERA conducts approximately five surveys per year of program directors, clerkship directors, department chairs and general CAFM membership. CAFM, the Council of Academic Family Medicine, includes STFM, NAPCRG, ADFM, and AFMRD. CAFM members are encouraged to submit questions for inclusion on the annual surveys; thus each omnibus survey addresses topics from 2 to 6 research teams. After survey implementation, responses to questions are returned to each research team for analysis and publication. Mentors are assigned to each research team for guidance. The Director for the General Membership Survey will oversee approximately one survey per year.

Criteria

The applicant must:
  • Be an active member of any CAFM organization (STFM, NAPCRG, ADFM, AFMRD)
  • Have survey research knowledge and expertise
  • Have a record of publication of survey research
  • Have or be willing to complete CITI Program training

Responsibilities

The Director will:  
  • Participate in two full-day meetings plus conference calls/email discussions as needed to offer ideas and make decisions on the priorities, direction, and initiatives of CERA
  • Review proposals for inclusion in an annual survey of CAFM membership
  • Appoint and manage mentors for each research team
  • Ensure that surveys are of high quality
  • Ensure that research teams complete their analysis and write-up on time
  • Be responsible for accuracy of IRB application

Resources 

  • CERA staff will manage IRB application submission, survey implementation, and data management
  • CERA Mentorship Director will help to identify reviewers to assist with survey proposals
  • CERA Mentorship Director will help to identify mentors for each research team
  • Travel to CERA meetings is paid by CERA

Other  

  • Survey Directors are appointed by the CERA Steering Committee Chair
  • Committee Tenure: 2 years with an option for up to an additional 2-years
