Family Medicine

Family Medicine is the official peer-reviewed journal of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. The journal has been sharing educational research for more than 30 years. Nearly 5,000 family medicine educators, including physicians, psychologists, sociologists, and public health specialists, turn to Family Medicine each month for new ideas and proven teaching strategies and techniques.

Peer-Reviewed Reports in Family Medicine Research (PRiMER)

Peer-reviewed Reports in Medical Education Research (PRiMER) is the open access journal of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the STFM Resource Library. PRiMER publishes original research briefs relevant to education in family medicine and closely related areas. As a companion to other STFM journals, PRiMER is focused on medical education and health workforce policy.

Annals of Family Medicine

Annals of Family Medicine is a peer-reviewed research journal for scientists, clinicians, policymakers, and the patients and communities they serve. The journal is dedicated to advancing knowledge essential to understanding and improving health and primary care.



The STFM Messenger is the official news publication of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. The STFM Messenger is emailed to members twice monthly and features information on STFM products and services, member highlights, legislative updates as well as other academic family medicine news. 

Other Communications


The STFM Blog provides an opportunity for members, staff, and leaders to share opinions, ideas, perspectives, and innovations.

Annual Report

The annual report provides a summary of the accomplishments of the membership and leadership of STFM as well as a highlight of new STFM innovations from the preceding year.

Education Columns

The STFM Education Column is published monthly in the STFM Messenger and features innovations, experiences, or reflections at all levels of family medicine education.

Social Media

STFM communicates through several social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In to interact with members to exchange information and share ideas.


STFM has created a variety of videos to create awareness, provide training, or highlight products and services of the Society.
