The goals for the Group on LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Health are to increase awareness, comfort, knowledge, and skills among the family medicine community and to provide mentorship for medical students, residents, and junior faculty regarding health issues impacting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.
The group's objectives are to encourage presentations pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health issues (including both research-oriented and teaching-oriented topics) and to make available resource and curriculum materials for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health issues available to STFM members through the STFM Resource Library.
Our group focuses on two important values: advocating for social justice to improve health and improving the quality of care, specifically of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations in family medicine. Our group celebrates diversity and multiculturalism, both among providers and patients and works to address inequities in health care through outreach and education as described above.
