The STFM Foundation supports 15 scholarships of $750 to help cover travel expenses for residents to attend the full-day Faculty for Tomorrow Preconference Workshop at the STFM Annual Spring Conference

Dedicated Funding for Underrepresented in Medicine Residents

Thanks to generous support from donors to the Underrepresented in Medicine Campaign, the STFM Foundation is able to provide additional scholarships for underrepresented in medicine applicants. The Association of American Medical Colleges defines underrepresented in medicine as: “those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.”

Application Requirements

Applications for the 2019 scholarship will be accepted online between September 4 - November 1, 2018. You will need to log in to your STFM membership profile, and application forms will be accepted until 11:59 pm EST on November 1. To apply:  

  • Fill out the online application form
  • Upload your Curriculum Vitae
  • Complete a two-part essay (max 500 words per section) within the online application form answering the questions, "Why are you interested in teaching family medicine?" and "How do you think you can make a difference in the future of family medicine?"

Note: This application form will not save until all required fields (marked with a red *) have been completed. To ensure you don't lose your work on the essay portion of the application, we recommend that you complete your essay in word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Word) and copy/paste it into the form.
