Interested in Serving on an STFM Committee?

STFM is accepting applications for the following committees in 2017:

  • Graduate Medical Education Committee—1 slot 
    Provides insight and resources to address the issues and needs of family medicine residency educators and their programs.
  • Research Committee—4 slots (3 regular, 1 fellow)
    Reviews research submissions for the Annual Spring Conference and promotes the continued development of researchers and research activities in family medicine. The fellow position is a 1-year term that is open only to candidates currently in a fellowship program.
  • Program Committee1 slot
    The Program Committee reviews submissions and plans the Annual Spring Conference, which serves as a showcase for the latest developments in family medicine education and research.
  • Communications Committee—2 slots
    Oversees the publications of the Society including Family Medicine, the STFM Messenger, PRIMER, electronic communications, including the website and the STFM Resource Library, and policies related to STFM awards and publications.
  • Conference on Practice Improvement Steering Committee –2 slots
    This committee has 3-year terms. Reviews submissions and plans the Conference on Practice Improvement, which engages participants in discussions about the changing health care landscape, provides steps to redesign practices, and shares examples of redesigned practices.

Expectations: 

This Committee Member Commitment Form outlines expectations of individuals chosen to serve on STFM Committees. Committee members typically serve 2-year terms and are eligible for an additional term, except for the Research Fellow who serves a 1-year term and Conference on Practice Improvement Steering members who serve a 3-year term. Travel to attend approximately two in-person meetings is expected from committee members; STFM will cover travel expenses for those meetings. Conference call meetings will be scheduled as needed.
